Summer - Alamo and El Paso

Our summer started off with a road trip to Alamogordo, New Mexico to say hi to Mops and Pops. They were so kind in offering to watch Bob for us as we made our way to Florida. This was Bob on our first day there. LOL - He just made himself at home. He's such a great dog!

After spending a couple of days in Alamo we made our way to El Paso where Rob's brother Ken lives. That night we went with them as they went quading with their new quads.

Rob's Birthday

We weren't able to go out of town for Rob's birthday so we decided to try a *staycation*!!

We got the hook up at a new hotel here in town and pretended we were on a little vacation!

We had a great time slwoing down a little from the craziness of our daily lives and just enjoyed each other!! Happy Birthday babe!

Knee Update: 7 weeks post op

We really can't believe that the time has gone by so fast! Rob's recovery has really been remarkable especially compared to his other experiences with knee surgery. We went back to San Diego for Rob's second post surgery visit with his surgeon. Rob's progress since his last visit has improved 150%. I am so proud of his ability to *suck it up* and mentally set himself up to heal through the pain. The doctor has released him to walk with one crutch and to ease his way to walking without the use of the crutch at all!! Rob is pretty strong when it comes to challenges like this and was walking without the crutch the next day! He is pretty amazing!

He has also been going to out patient physical therapy and LOVES the people that work with him. He says that they really know their stuff. He will continue his physical therapy three days a week for now.

This time when we went to San Diego we decided to enjoy a little dinner with my brother and sister-in-law, their family, and my Aunt Sharon & Uncle Mark. Kelly was so kind to make a scrumptious roast and some YUMMY spice cake!! It was nice to spend some time with them down in their neck of the woods.

After the doctor appointment we had a little time and decided to drive a little way down to the La Jolla beach and enjoy the view. We leave you with pictures from our view from the the ranger station:

Dad's Surprise

My dad is having knee replacement surgery and so we all (family and friends) pitched in and got my dad a new tv so ease his recover. =) It's REALLY hard to pull one over on him, but somehow the stars were all aligned and we managed to pull one over on him. He thought mom had to work (but really she was with us and getting the cable boxes turned in so that she could get the HDTV boxes.) so he went and ran an errand and tried to bring mom lunch. But she wasn't there...poor dad. Thank goodness nobody was at school to tell him that she really hadn't been there. He eventually came home where we surprised him with his new tv. He thought that mom had bought him a new LZ Boy chair so he thought he had it all figure out - lol. He tried to drop his mouth and act surprised thinking that he knew what it was....but once he saw what it acutally was his mouth stayed open. I don't think we've ever been able to pull one on him like this!!

Oh Bob!!

After Rob's surgery my parents have been kind enough to keep Bob for us while he recovers. So we haven't seen him and miss him. This is Rob letting Bob know how much we love him.

Rob's Knee

I am still learning how to upload pictures on my new camera so I have lots of pictures to share but this is the only one I could get on the blog thus far. But anyway Rob is about 3 weeks post surgery and is doing great! He's off all pain meds and is getting cabin fever. Which is pretty big for him because he really likes being at home. He should start out patient physical therapy this week so that will keep him busy. The doctor said he could probably return to work in about 3 weeks. I am so proud of him and his recovery.

My dad is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow. Rob will be there at the hospital with my mom to support them during the surgery. And since Rob is the closest one to know what Dad's going through, he'll be there to offer his advice and sympathetic ear. We'll keep you posted!
